British Insurance Awards 2026 winners revealed
Triple winner QBE was crowned General Insurer of the Year and Dame Sue Langley, the Lady Mayor of the City of London, picked up the Achievement Award at the 2026 British Insurance Awards last night (8 July).
They were among the big winners as 1400 people attended the event at the Royal Albert Hall hosted by comedian and Celebrity Traitors winners Alan Carr.
The entertainment was topped of by music from Mark DeLisser Singers and Big Ocean, with Brit Award winner Ella Eyre closing the night of with a hit strewn set.
General Insurer of the Year 2026 QBE also took home the Best Insurance Employer - Large and shared the Major Loss Award Award with Walstead UK, Sedgwick and Thompson & Bryan.
Sedgwick was one of eight other multiple winners as it also scooped the Claims Initiative of the Year – Insurance Partner.
The other multiple winners were Ageas (two), Aviva (three), DWF Law (two), Equipsme (two), McGill and Partners (two), Native (two) and Zurich (three).
Clearspeed executive president of insurance Manjit Rana took home the Insurance Personality of the Year crown.
Unveiling Dame Sue Langley, pictured, as the Achievement Award winner Carr’s co-host, Insurance Post’s content director Jonathan Swift said: “Our 2026 British Insurance Awards achievement winner has gone from a globe trotting graduate without a plan to a globe trotter with a defined plan to promote the City – and its insurance market – across the world.”
He added: “Over the last decade and a half this person has sat on the UK board of Gallagher, been a trustee of MacMillan Cancer Support and worked for the Department of International Trade and in the Home Office.
“In 2015 this person was given an OBE in the New Years Honours List and they became a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in the 2023 King’s Birthday Honours.
“Most recently our winner has come to prominence as an East Ender done good looking to champion social mobility and unsquare the Square Mile, as the 697th holder of an office that dates back to 1189, becoming only the third woman to take on the role, and the first to formally adopt the title Lady – not Lord Mayor – of the City of London.”
