Diary of an Insurance PR: Full Circle’s Sophie Locke-Cooper
From early morning inbox scans to midday walks and industry events, Sophie Locke-Cooper, PR account manager at Full Circle Communications, shares her rhythm of writing, social media posts, and meaningful conversations throughout the week.
Monday
Mondays usually start quietly at home, coffee in hand, grateful for the calm that remote working brings. Funny how it’s always the little daily habits that end up defining how the days unfold.
I kick off the day in my usual rhythm: cracking open my laptop and scanning my inbox for anything urgent or quick wins to tick off before the real pace sets in.
Once the initial flurry of emails is cleared, my attention turns to the social media front line. Scheduled posts are reviewed and nudged live at peak engagement hours on LinkedIn, where insurance conversations quietly thrive beneath layers of ‘inspirational’ posts and recycled life advice.
I scroll past those (we’ve all seen them) to find the real deal: the news, insights, and market movements that will shape potential content.
Lunchtime always means stepping outside. The midday walk has become a non-negotiable ritual, whatever the weather. It clears my head and helps me power through the afternoon, which usually fills with client catch-ups, content planning, and writing.
Tuesday
Tuesdays are office days, a refreshing change of scenery and the chance to see the wonderful Full Circle team.
The morning starts with the familiar hum (or screech) of the Northern Line, crossword in hand, Off Menu podcast, or music in my ears. Once I arrive, it’s straight into emails, social updates, monitoring scheduled posts, and checking LinkedIn engagement.
There's something about seeing your client in person that helps you capture their voice and the essence of their brand.
The rest of the day unfolded with writing tasks and plenty of client calls. Being in the office always sparks valuable, impromptu conversations that you just don’t get over email or Teams.
As always, I made time for my lunchtime walk, my favourite way to reset before starting the afternoon.
This Tuesday was a particular highlight: I attended the 100 Women in Insurance event, a brilliant live podcast recording focused on tackling trickier conversations as a woman in the workplace. The conversation was refreshingly open and inspiring, giving us the tools and confidence for what’s ahead
Wednesday
Midweek is another home-working day, offering a balance I’ve really come to appreciate.
The morning routine stays the same: emails, social media monitoring, industry news scanning. By Wednesday, content writing ramps up as my task list grows from productive client calls. These calls are important for sharing ideas and advice, and sometimes simply catching-up as people.
Whenever possible, we arrange in-person meetings. They’re always worth it; there’s something about seeing your client in person that helps you capture their voice and the essence of their brand.
Plus, after emailing and calling them almost daily, it’s genuinely nice to see them in person.
Afternoons are typically writing-focused, and I continue to make time for my lunchtime walk to keep the 3pm slump at bay.
Thursday
This Thursday, I decided to work from home. Normally, I’d be in the office, but as we all know, a heatwave and a London commute are not a good mix.
The day followed its usual rhythm. This time, though, I had all my windows open and a fan running, though it mostly just blew hot air around, making the room feel even warmer. Oh, how I wish air conditioning were standard in UK homes.
Even though my days often follow a similar pattern, they never feel the same. Every piece of news is different, every blog tells a new story, and every call brings fresh, interesting conversations
I kept the afternoon relaxed and postponed my lunchtime walk until after work, it was simply too hot to head out midday. I focused on journalist pitches and research blogs, making the most of the quieter day to crack on with writing.
Friday
Fridays are usually home-based and take on a slightly more reflective pace. I start the day by clearing my inbox and going through my remaining tasks, but there’s a quiet satisfaction in wrapping up the week’s work.
I use Fridays to finalise content and plan for the week ahead. Client calls tend to be fewer, and we usually close out the day with a team call to discuss the week and upcoming events. These informal catch-ups are just as important, they offer a relaxed space to share thoughts and recharge.
With summer socials and industry events starting to pop up, this has become a key topic of conversation. The day-to-day rhythm is broken up by conferences, industry socials, lunches, or even the early morning networking breakfasts.
These moments are a real highlight, not just for the networking, but for the chance to be a part of the conversations, see the industry’s personalities come to life, and remember that there’s a people-first community in insurance.
Even though my days often follow a similar pattern, they never feel the same. Every piece of news is different, every blog tells a new story, and every call brings fresh, interesting conversations. Bring on Monday.
