Long-term prospects are now front of mind for accountants

It was a busy week in recruitment again for insurers, with Ace, Marketform and XL Group among those recruiting.

Insurers


Ace
Ace Group has appointed Stuart Elliot as terrorism and political violence underwriter responsible for growing its terrorism book. Elliot, formerly Willis divisional director for its Africa and Far East terrorism and political violence portfolio, will be based in London with responsibility for all markets outside the US.

Marketform
Lloyd’s underwriter Marketform has recruited Howard Franks as a consultant to work with cargo underwriter Nicholas Edwards.

Prosight
Prosight Specialty Underwriters has made Syndicate 1110 chief operating officer Bernard Mageean managing director of the syndicate. Prior to joining, Mageean was MD of underwriting and wholesale at Giles, with responsibility for managing general agent Ink Underwriting. He can be contacted at bmageean@prosightspecialty.com

Randall and Quilter
Randall and Quilter has appointed Bradley King as chief operating officer of captive management subsidiary Triton. King will be responsible for business development and management of the business, while Severin Stirnes will remain Triton managing director. King can be contacted on bradley@triton.no

Titlesolv
Titlesolv has appointed Paul Denholm as its specialist underwriter for planning and judicial review. Denholm joins  from a local planning authority and will provide risk management solutions across the property sector. He can be contacted on 08448 001 043.

XL Group
XL Group has recruited from Morgan Stanley Wealth Management for a senior underwriter in its new operational risks team. Angelos Deftereos joins as senior underwriter, operational risks, International Professional XL Group. At the bank his responsibilities included engineering operational risk governance and risk profile analysis. Zurich
Zurich has made Saad Mered global chief claims officer for its general insurance business. Mered, previously CEO of Zurich’s Middle East operation, is responsible for leading Zurich’s global GI claims function, improving claims capabilities in the GI segment and strengthening customer focus and replaces Thomas Sepp. Reporting to Mike Kerner, CEO GI, Mered will be located in Zurich.

Arthur J Gallagher
United Insurance Brokers’ Chris Hamilton-Cox has joined Arthur J Gallagher as a director in its aviation division. Hamilton-Cox will be tasked with growing the aviation portfolio, particularly airport liability and business coming from the AIS Gallagher aviation offices in the US. Clements Worldwide
Clements Worldwide has made two appointments in its London office. UK managing director Dan Francis has been promoted to global business development vice-president. Former Willis sales head Gareth Saunders has been appointed commercial insurance sales director. Saunders, who has previously worked at GE Insurance Holdings and Marsh, will target NGOs, the diplomatic community, Europe-based global organisations and regional commercial insurance segments. Towergate
Towergate has appointed Andrew Richmond to the role of group head of customer experience. Richmond, previously SSE senior customer experience manager, will report to group marketing director Lindsay Forster. Richmond was based in South Africa before moving to the UK in 2012. Loss Adjusters


Cunningham Lindsey
Cunningham Lindsey has appointed Simon Hughes as an environmental consultant in its environmental solutions team. Hughes, who joined the loss adjuster in December 2013, will provide technical support to the national team of environmental adjusters. He has previously worked at RSK Group, Augean and the Environment Agency.
