Hear from Thatcham, the FOS, Aviva, DLG and Allianz at Claims Club

Jonathan Hewett

The Claims Club 2025 programme kicks off on the morning of the 25 April at Events No6 in London and you can sign-up to attend now.

The meetings will kick off with Thatcham CEO Jonathan Hewett, pictured, looking at how insurers can better risk assess the cars of today and tomorrow, covering progress with regards the new Vehicle Risk Rating system and the advancing complexity of vehicle technology and associated data.

He will also give attendees an update on developments around automated vehicles and the latest insights into what the insurance sector might expect in terms of the motor agenda being set by the new Labour government.

Financial Ombudsman Service

The Club will also get an update on the latest trends when it comes to complaints relating to general insurance claims from the Financial Ombudsman Service, with a specific focus on motor, which remains the largest driver of consumer referrals in this space.

Collating feedback the ombudsman has gathered after a number of recent roundtable events it has held with insurers, the speakers [ombudsman leader Alex Newman and ombudsman manager Guy Mitchell] will highlight how areas such as total loss valuations and delays in repair still feature heavily among consumer grievances; and offer feedback on what insurers can do to manage policyholder expectations better.

Future-proofing

Attendees will also be encouraged to get involved with a panel discussion looking at future-proofing repair strategies for a hi-tech vehicle parc.

Clare Davies from Solus Accident Centres at Aviva; Felicity Harer from Direct Line Group; Adrian Furness from Motor Repair Network; and Gennaro Vullo from Allianz Insurance, will address a wide range of topics from electric vehicles to stricter manufacturer mandates and approval standards; as well as parts sourcing, the skilled technician gap and sustainable practices including circular parts sourcing to improve lead times and promote ESG.
