Peak Re has appointed Sophia Chiu as senior vice president for claims.

Chiu, pictured, who will oversee the entire claims operations for the Hong Kong-based reinsurer, will be responsible for delivering the company's claims philosophy and setting up claims procedures in the Asia-Pacific region.

Chiu joins Peak Re from Marsh Hong Kong where she was the technical consultant advising on the revamp of the company's claims procedures and systems in addition to complex claims.

Prior to that, she worked as a consultant for MSIG and at senior claims positions for Falcon Insurance and HSBC Lombard Insurance based in Hong Kong.

Franz Hahn, CEO of Peak Re, commented: "The ability to provide world class claims services lies at the core of every leading reinsurance group, and it is Peak Re's guiding principle to pay all legitimate claims promptly and efficiently. We are pleased to have Sophia on board with us, with the kind of quality and track record she has, Peak Re will surely be right at the forefront of the industry in this respect."
