Diary of an Insurer: Charles Taylor’s Jeremy Stevens

Jeremy Steven Diary

Jeremy Stevens, head of EMEA business at Charles Taylor InsureTech, keeps running up and down Crystal Palace’s hill, briefs the team on new client projects across the globe, and gets home in time to finish reading Fantastic Mr Fox with his daughter.

Monday

Early start and heading into the office for a breakfast catch-up at Leadenhall Market with a contact from a global speciality insurer.

It is always great to find out what clients are thinking about and where Charles Taylor might be best place to help.

Fantastic Mr Fox

Breakfast over and a return to Mincing Lane to catch-up with the team and desktop admin. Lunch with the CEO of an insurtech association to learn more about aspiring tech entrepreneurs and how Charles Taylor could become more involved with the association.

There is also a chance to discuss if there might be any partnership opportunities with the start-ups. Back to the office after lunch to prepare some information request documents for a new client project then a session for internal solution development and marketing initiatives.

Off home at 7pm to the family just in time to say goodnight to my daughter and finish Fantastic Mr Fox.

Tuesday

6.30am train from Crystal Palace to London Bridge. Such a steep hill to run down to get to the station. Not sure why I moved to the top of a massive hill.

London

My wife constantly complains about the hike up and down, while my daughter free-wheels down it at warp speed on her scooter.

Office first thing today to brief the team on new client projects across UK, Middle East and Africa, exciting times for our tech team in fast-moving emerging markets.

Afternoon trip to a new prospect for a professional services discussion which calls for a train ride out of Kings Cross to the north of England.

Six hours later, back in town to catch the Thameslink home in time for dinner. Late night call with an overseas client rounds off the day.

Wednesday

Client event in the Mile this morning, roundtable discussion. Audience participant only at this one. Scoffed a bunch of pastries and guzzled a gallon of coffee before the debate.

Great to meet old and new contacts at the event and grab essential market intel. Lime bike back to the office for team catch-up and desktop admin.

Drinks in The Grapes with some carrier contacts and then off home to the family for dinner and daughter bedtime.

Thursday

7.45am drop-off at the school this morning, quick chat with the head teacher about everything and nothing. Hop on the train then off to Monument to the office.

Desktop admin, four internal meetings and then client meetings in Lime Street. Afternoon spent working alongside client teams to assess how Charles Taylor might be able to help further in their strategic ambitions.

Met the future City of London councillor for Billingsgate ward for a quick drink then off to running club in Herne Hill.

Friday

sharing-pizza

6.30am train out of Crystal Palace to London Bridge. Coffee with a client this morning at Lime Street to have a chat about the current business services we provide.

Met an advisory partner we work with walking back to the office. Another impromptu coffee then back to the office for some internal meetings. Lunch at the desk today and a quick catch-up with clients in The Lamb early afternoon.

School pick-up late afternoon and off for a pizza as kids eat free. Looking forward to the weekend and some downtime with my family.
