Watch Axa, Convex, Clear and Verisk discuss data in commercial property

The issue of underinsurance in commercial property insurance has been prevalent for a number of years now, with the spotlight really intensifying during and after the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, while insurers, MGAs and their brokers are aware of problems here, the cost and time associated with surveyor visits to remediate and correct it brings its own challenges; especially in the SME and mid-corporate space, where economic pressures mean these businesses will likely be more resistant to any premium hike to cover the expense.

But while in-person surveyor visits have their benefits, there is plenty of readily available data that could also be used to provide a more accurate assessment when underwriting commercial property risks; the key is how can insurers access and aggregate it to get the best outcomes?

With this in mind Insurance Post, in association with Verisk, would like to invite you to watch a live interactive webinar on the 23 April at 11am, where a panel of experts from Axa Commercial, Convex, Clear Group and Verisk will discuss data enrichment in commercial property underwriting – and how it can not only add value by giving SME/mid corporate clients more accurate rebuild costs but also gives insurers/MGAs a better understanding of the property risks on their books.

Topics set to be tackled:

  • What progress has been made in combatting underinsurance in commercial property?
  • What data from spatial and perils data to building management performance and rebuild costs are available; and how are these been used to better underwrite commercial property risks?
  • What examples have you seen of insured values being out-of-kilter with actual rebuild costs? Are any commercial sectors more blighted by underinsurance here than others?
  • Where do the biggest gaps remain in data for commercial property underwriting; and how would these help?

The expert panel:

  • Matthew Askew, senior underwriter for international property at Convex.
  • Mandy Hunt, MD of Clear MGA
  • David Ovenden, chief underwriting officer at Axa Commercial.
  • Nutan Rajguru, head of analytics at Verisk.
