Top 250 brokers see slow in growth

Cornell Consulting's respected annual review of distribution in the UK commercial market estimates that growth for the Top 250 independent brokers slowed to 9% in 2004. This, says the report, is the lowest growth since 1999 and reflects the softening cycle. If it wasn’t for a higher level of acquisitions growth would have been lower.

The total premium income controlled by the independent broking sector is estimated to be about £11bn and this represents 55% of the UK commercial market and 15% of personal lines.
