Insurers can now access the My Licence hub through Open GI, with a number of panel insurers already signed up to the service.

Through My Licence, insurers can access data direct from the Motor Insurance Bureau to verify drivers' details. It is hoped the service will assist in accurate pricing and reducing fraud.

According to a statement from Open GI enquiries about the service are in double figures.

David Kelly, Open GI distribution director, said: "My Licence will help eliminate erroneous policy holder information which, in turn, will result in lower premiums for the customer and a competitive edge for the broker."

A statement from the Association of British Insurers said My Licence would help stop fraudulent non-disclosure of qualifications or penalty points.

"We are pleased to see that industry partners are working together to take full advantage of the service," the statement said.
