McKinsey and Telefonica to address inaugral insurance and data analytics conference

telefonica

Speakers from Telefonica and McKinsey & Company will open and close the inaugral Post Insurance and Data Analytics conference in July.

Jacqui Quilter, head of customer analytics, Telefonica will open the conference on the 10 July in London with a keynote speech: Investing in data collection and advance analytics.

Meanwhile Nick Hoffman, partner and Antonio Grimaldi, associate partner, McKinsey and Company will close the day with a session looking at talent.

And more specifically the question of whether there are enough staff with the skills to cope with the big data explosion. According to a report by MGI and McKinsey's Business Technology Office the US alone faces a shortage of 140 000 to 190 000 people with analytical expertise and 1.5 million managers and analysts with the skills to understand and make decisions based on the analysis of big data.

Hoffman joined McKinsey & Company's London office in 2001, where he is now a leader of McKinsey's insurance work in the UK.

He is a co-leader of McKinsey's initiative on the future of the performance of the general insurance sector, building on the firm's research in the US spanning the past few decades.

Other organisations represented on the agenda include RSA, Insurance Fraud Bureau, Celent, IFB, Marsh Global Analytics and Ace Europe.
