Mike Lowe

Mike Lowe is a senior engineer, International Vehicle Standards.

Lowe isa senior engineer at the Department for Transport and currently works within the International Vehicle Standards Division.

He is an automotive engineer with over 10 years' experience in the Department, prior to that his private sector experience included spells at Ford Motor Company and Foden Trucks.

He was a key member of the team responsible for the Department's review of regulations on Driverless Cars and is involved in the follow up activities. He is an expert on motor vehicle type approval and represents the Department at EU rule-making meetings in Brussels. Over the years he has participated in international committees developing regulations in areas such as electronic steering (‘Steer by wire'), adaptive front lighting (e.g. Swiveling headlamps) and speed limiting devices. He advises DfT Agencies DVLA, VCA and DVSA on the implementation of EU rules on type approval.
