Insurers
Allianz
Allianz Commercial’s head of property insurance Catherine Dixon has had her remit extended to cover property and casualty following the promotion of casualty boss Chris Dee. Dixon, who joined Allianz 29 years ago, will take over the casualty portfolio from Dee, who is taking up the role of chief underwriting officer for Allianz Asia Pacific. In her new role, Dixon will be responsible for the division’s property and casualty accounts, including the risk control function. An area of particular focus will be developing Allianz Commercial’s mid-corporate strategy, building pricing capability and enhancing product propositions.
Lancashire Holdings
Tom Milligan has joined Lancashire Holdings as non-executive director following his retirement as co-CEO of Ariel Re Holdings. Milligan first joined the insurance industry in 1991 with Guy Carpenter and has since held roles with Goldman Sachs, Arrow Capital Re and Lloyds’ Syndicate. He led Goldman Sachs’ takeover of Ariel Re and stepped down as co-CEO of the latter following the completion of its sale to BTG Pactual.
Novae
Specialist Lloyd’s insurer Novae Group has appointed Robert Patten as head of the casualty division and member of the company’s executive committee. Patten joins from Aspen Insurance, and was most recently head of international property and casualty. Before Aspen, he had spells with XL Europe, Starr Excess, Ace Bermuda and CE Health.
TT Club
Transport, freight and logistics insurance provider TT Club has hired Kevin King as regional director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. King will be based in London and will oversee member services and business development across EMEA. He is a qualified US attorney and joined Thomas Miller, the owner of TT Club, in 1996. King replaces Andrew Kemp, who has moved to sister company UK P&I Club.

CNA Hardy
Carl Day has joined CNA Hardy to lead the broker’s energy, marine and aviation activities. Day joins from Hiscox where he was responsible for upstream energy. He can be contacted on carl.day@cnahardy.com or 020 7105 3307 .
Power Place
Services provider Power Place has appointed Alex Fisher as business development manager for the South East. Fisher joins from Allianz, where he held the role of development underwriter. Power Place has also promoted Johannah Lyon to business development manager for the South West region, replacing Peter Bowen who has been moved to the newly created role of broker sales manager.
Trade bodies
IRM
The Institute of Risk Management has appointed Ian Livsey as its new CEO. Livsey previously held CEO roles at the Gangmaster Licensing Authority and the Centre for Rail Skills. He has held the role of chairman for the Government’s Trust Mark organisation, building industry standards body Summitskills and also JTL, a charity focused on apprenticeships and training to the same sector. At the IRM, one of his main tasks will be to raise awareness of the organisation’s professional standards for members and champion its new certification scheme.
Law firms
BLM
BLM has re-elected Mike Brown as its senior partner for a further three years. Brown was first appointed senior partner in 2012 and is responsible for the leadership, promotion and development of the firm. He also chairs the company’s executive and partnership boards, and has more than 25 years’ experience in handling healthcare litigation and disciplinary matters. As a deputy district judge in the Northern circuit, Brown deals with civil matters and is a member of the Law Societies of England and Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.
