How to improve product development pathways

What insurers can do to stop product launches from being a long, slow, hard slog is covered by Chris Kitchener, VP of product management of Applied Systems, is the latest Insurance Post Top Tips video.

In his Top Tips video, Kitchener recommends insurers:

  • Understand the problem.
  • Focus on the end experience.
  • Solve the problem and iterate.

He observes it is really easy for people to jump to a solution, but the first thing they should do is go and talk to customers to fully understand the problem before they start to build an insurance product.

Kitchener said: “When you are solving problems it is really easy to get caught up in the technical solutions and forget – at the end of the day – it is all about helping the customer.

“Remember them – keep them at front of mind.”

Over the coming weeks, Post’s Top Tips videos will feature the industry’s leading lights sharing simple but effective ideas that could take your insurance business and career to the next level.
