Post docu-video: European Windstorm

Over this weekend European wind storms have again been headline news.

Following in the path of Abigail, Barney and Clodagh, Desmond has caused significant destruction across Cumbria and the Borders.

However, a recent survey carried out by Post and the Met Office saw European windstorms ranked behind flood as a factor in assessing natural hazards. Only 27% of respondents considered it ‘very important', compared to 63% for flood.

So why is this? How do insurance companies currently assess this peril? And how is this evolving.

These were among the subjects discussed in this docu-video featuring a number of key representatives from Aon Benfield, Met Office, RMS, Willis and XL Catlin.

To read more about the what lessons can be learned from windstorm history;
How these risks are underwritten; And how insurers can mitigate windstorm risks then read these respective articles.
