MoJ and mobile operators join forces to eliminate text pests - Insurance News Now – 21 April 2011

Post news editor Mairi MacDonald outlines this week's major general insurance stories including an announcement that the MoJ is to set up a dedicated working group with the UK’s major mobile firm operators to tackle the problem of unsolicited text messaging from claims management firms.

Post revealed in June 2010 that the department was investigating the rise in organisations promoting personal injury services to UK consumers.

In other news, Aon has won the tender to provide insurance coverage for the McLaren Formula One team, McLaren Automotive and individual policies for its drivers; broker Brightside is in talks to add Arch Capital to its panel of commercial insurers as it looks to add a series of new risks to its commercial portfolio; Towergate listing on the London Stock Exchange is "no pre-conceived certainty", according to non-executive chairman Alastair Lyons; and Giles' director of corporate development, Paul Dickson has said that its effort to grow its corporate book of business to £100m within 12 to 18 months has been boosted with a series of business wins.
