The story so far: Neos is a connected home insurance offering that uses technology to help prevent situations that could result in claims. When homeowners take out a policy with the start-up, they are provided with a handful of smart sensors, which alert the customers to problems such as pipe leaks via a smartphone app, enabling them to take action before things get worse. What’s exciting about the Neos insurance offering is the potential for the technology to make inferences from independent, unrelated events. Take, for example, the detection of running water and no-one present in the house
for a long-period of time. Neither present a risk individually but when combined, the results could be disastrous. Neos is developing intelligent systems to detect such risk. Neos has received investment likes of ex-Ageas CEO Barry Smith, ex-MD of RSA Steve Broughton and even former England football star Gary Lineker, who is also an investor in telematics insurer Ingenie. The company, led by former RSA and Axa director Matt Poll, continues expansion across the UK in 2018, with plans to enrich its advisory bots with machine learning technology which continually improves their performance
based on environment.
