FCA reveals surge in cyber attacks

The number of reported data hacking attacks against financial services companies has quadrupled in the last year, according to figures from the Financial Conduct Authority.

The statistics, gleaned in a Freedom of Information response to audit, tax and consulting firm RSM show that reported incidents of loss of data resulting from cyber hacking have risen from 4 in 2016
