Affinity: Telecoms ready to take on banks
James Carpenter, head of insurance at O2, told delegates the telecommunications sector is gearing up to rival the banks as a provider of financial services and products.
With 22.2 million customers plus two million Tesco Mobile customers, of whom 47% are pay-monthly customers, Mr Carpenter said O2, as the UK's second largest mobile provider, is rich in customer data.
