I want to resign to go to a competitor but have a long notice period - how likely is it that I will be held to this and is there anything I could use as a bargaining tool?
You do not say what your job title currently is but, as a general rule, the more senior you are the longer the notice period - and the less likely it is this can be negotiated down. Having said that
