MP claimed expenses for insured water damage

In the latest round of exposures about MPs expenses it was today revealed that Labour MP Ruth Kelly claimed thousands of pounds in expenses to pay for damage caused to her home by flooding, although at the time she had a building insurance policy.

The Telegraph reports that Ms Kelly used her taxpayer-funded second home allowances to pay for £31 000 of rebuilding, refurbishment and appliances at the house in her Bolton West constituency.

It added
