Zurich says GI profit fell 12% in 2008

Zurich has reported that its general insurance gross written premiums and policy fees increased 4% [or 2% in local currencies] to USD 37.2 bn in 2008. It recorded a combined ratio of 98.1%. Overall the Zurich group announced a business operating profit (BOP) of USD 5.2bn, a decrease of 23%.
