Everest Re reports ‘record’ Q2 results

Everest Re Group has reported record second quarter 2006 after-tax operating income, which excludes realized capital gains and losses, of $218.7m, a 26.2% increase compared to $173.3m, in the second quarter of 2005. Second quarter 2006 net income increased 13.5% to $220.4m, compared to $194.2m, in the second quarter of 2005. Operating income differs from net income only by the exclusion of realized gains and losses on investments.

For the six months ended June 30, 2006, after-tax operating income was $376.6m, an increase of 11.2% compared to $338.6m, in 2005. Net income in the first six months of 2006 was $388.8m, an increase
