Cyclone Larry damage $250m and rising
Insured losses from Cyclone Larry, which hit north eastern Australia last week, are continuing to rise, with insurers reporting that about 12,500 claims worth A$250m have been received.
The cyclone caused a great deal of damage to the banana and sugar cane industries in the area, and there have been claims that up to 80% of Australia’s banana crop will be affected.
