Swiss Re is to set up a consultancy in India for the country's insurers.
Indian's Foreign Investment Promotions Board has given Swiss Re's subsidiary Prudentia approval to establish Swiss Re Services India, which will offer advice to insurers on risk management and product design.
Swiss Re predicts that non-life and life premiums in India will grow at a rate of 8.3% and 13.5% per year respectively between now and 2010.
The reinsurer has had a representative office in Mumbai (Bombay) since 1998.
