Axa Canada chief financial officer Bertrand Poupart-Lafarge has been named new CFO at Axa UK.
He takes over from Jean Drouffe who is relocating to the insurer's Paris headquarters.
Poupart-Lafarge has previously worked for the insurer in France, where he was chief investment officer, and the US and Canada, where he was responsible for developing the company's financial policies, plans and strategies.
Axa UK and Ireland group CEO Paul Evans said: "Bertrand brings a wealth of experience to the Axa UK board and executive committee."
Evans added: "I would like to thank Jean Drouffe for his professional and dedicated stewardship of the UK finance function since 2010 - a challenging period during which we have successfully refocused and restored the profitability of the Axa UK business.
"I have greatly valued Jean's strong financial counsel, strategic vision, drive and determination and I wish him well as he starts his new leadership role."
Poupart-Lafarge added: "The business has a strong platform for profitable growth and I look forward to helping the UK group deliver on its ambitions."
