My Best XI: Simon Taylor, Reich

simon-taylor-best-11

Simon Taylor, managing director of Salford-based broker Reich, selects his best XI for an insurance industry start-up. In a team packed full of industry leaders, Taylor is hopeful a side that contains five chief executives, or equivalents, will provide his side with vital experience, however, it could be a case of too many chiefs and not enough Indians.

1. Dave Smith (Zurich) (GK)
One of the best strategic thinkers in the market, a close friend and real asset to anybody’s team

2. Adrian Brown (RSA) (RB)
Superb leader, on and off the field, and someone I can always rely on. Charismatic and focused

3. Amanda Blanc (Axa) (LB)
The only female member of the team, but more than a match for any of the men on the pitch. I could not imagine my team without her

4. Darren Pacey (Zurich) (CM)
Darren will find an opportunity, wherever one exists, and will convert goals. I would trust Darren anytime

5. Greg Gladwell (Crawford & Company) (CB)
Brilliantly able to bring together the team as one, and deliver the best. A major asset

6. Gareth Hilton (RSA) (CB)
Focused, committed, and forward thinking. Someone I can rely on

7. Tony Emms (Zurich) (RM)
Tony has been sitting on the bench of late recovering from a major illness. Now that he is back, he will deliver speed and agility across
the pitch

8. Alex Stuart (Allianz) (CM)
Determined, committed and a real team player. Being the only Scot in the team, he may have to go back over the border if Alex Salmond has his way

9. Simon Hodgin (Axa) (ST)
A real football fan (albeit Man City) and somebody who would give his all, on and off the pitch

10. Chris Hall (Questgates) (ST)
An expert at constructing something superb from scratch. A great focal point from an attacking point of view

11. Ian Muress (Crawford & Company) (LM)
Truly an international ‘player’ and a fabulous advantage to me and the team in winning any game
