Penny Black’s Social Diary: Clyde & Co’s biscuits; Canopius’ sauce

Social Diary

Penny Black is back, sharing the tittle-tattle she overheard at insurance industry events, reviewing the quality of buffets at conferences and giving a thumbs up – or down – to the sector’s social media posts.

Great Glasgow Bake-Off

You should all be well-aware of my adoration for sweet treats by now. This preference made senior associate at Clyde &Co Kelly Marie Brotherhood’s LinkedIn post about the law firm’s Glasgow Biscuit Bake Off quite the treat.

The entrants were tasked with making hob nobs or slice and bakes, and they rose to the occasion with dark and white chocolate flavours for the former, and plain and cranberry for the latter. In a turn of events I wouldn’t have predicted, the dark hob nob emerged victorious.

While it was lovely to read about, I would have much preferred the opportunity to judge. However, next week’s challenge is bread – a category that’s far less exciting to a chronic sweet tooth.

Penny’s Lunch Box

Penny Black Canopius Spread

If you’re going to have a Dive In panel session right in the middle of lunch time, you have to set up a spread as varied as what Canopius offered after the Performance through people: how inclusive teams drive high performance panel.

My plate was stacked with every shape and size on offer, as well as the lovely sweet chilli sauce offered alongside the sausage rolls. I’m not ashamed to say I dipped every option into it, including the prawns. Five stars.

Out of context

“He had a really rough day and bit someone’s body part off. He was a little angry.”

Dr Elizabeth Feigin describes a previous patient’s unconventional method of emotional regulation during her keynote at the Belonging through every chapter: Supporting talent at every turn Dive In session.
