Penny Black’s Social Diary: MS Amlin’s stunt; CyberCube’s biscuits

Social Diary

Penny Black is back, sharing the tittle-tattle she overheard at insurance industry events, reviewing the quality of buffets at conferences, and giving a thumbs up – or down – to the sector’s social media posts.

Mission insurance

This week our source of entertainment deviated from LinkedIn as I stumbled on MS Amlin’s film Stunt.

The film aimed to align the stunt doubles’ mastery of risk with MS Amlin’s specialists’ roles.

MS Amlin CEO Andrew Carrier said: “While underwriters and stunt performers might seem worlds apart, both are experts in planning for the unpredictable and managing extreme risks. For stunt people, this skill results in movie magic; and for our people, it provides invaluable peace of mind for businesses worldwide.”

With scenes of the doubles smashing through windows, escaping landmines, walking in burning suits and jumping off buildings, I never thought I’d see our industry’s direct involvement in so many potential claims.

Luckily, nothing went wrong (as far as we know), and I especially enjoyed the transition from the doubles to the MS Amlin employees as they walked into the Leadenhall building.

However, I initially thought they had simply done slight-of-hand style switches with the doubles as the stunt scenes were filmed, in true move magic style, but that was far too risky an expectation. It is an insurance advert after all.

Penny’s Lunch Box

Penny Black Cybercube Biscuits

While it wasn’t quite a Hollywood film, our biscuit delivery from CyberCube to celebrate the launch of its exposure manager, was my much-needed action in the middle of a long day in the office.

Considering how sugary they tasted, I am ashamed to say I ate far more than I should have. Although by now, you should all be accustomed to my overindulgent antics. Five stars.
