Penny Black’s Social Diary: Crawford’s video; Biba’s curry

Social Diary

Penny Black is back, sharing the tittle-tattle she overheard at insurance industry events, reviewing the quality of buffets at conferences, and giving a thumbs up – or down – to the sector’s social media posts.

Oliver’s ‘unbeelievable ‘video

The star of Stand Out Socks’ fantastic thank you video to Crawford & Company for selecting the company to pack Crawford’s bee-inspired socks for the British Insurance Brokers’ Association Conference caught my attention: a star is born.

Head of events for UK and Europe Sue Hale shared the video from Stand Out Socks, which creates paid meaningful job opportunities for individuals with Down syndrome and learning disabilities, on LinkedIn.

I was quite jealous of star Oliver’s excellent bee puns, from “I hope you look the bee’s knees” to “have an unbeelievable time”, as our recent editions of this column haven’t been nearly as witty as I would have liked.

Perhaps it would bee great to get some lessons from Oliver. That one should show you I need all the help I can get.

Penny’s Lunch Box

Biba Vegetarian Curry Penny Black

It would be sacrilege to mention the Biba conference without sharing my review of at least one meal. I have chosen to highlight the vegetarian curry option from day one, as it was very tasty, but could have been bigger given the amount of booze being served on stands later that day.

Considering the grandeur of Biba, it was natural that I expected my tummy to be as full as my hands were carrying all those freebies on the train back to London. Four stars.
