Penny Black’s Social Diary: Guidewire’s Lasso and Markerstudy balls

Social Diary

Penny Black is back, sharing the tittle-tattle she overheard at insurance industry events, reviewing the quality of buffets at conferences and giving a thumbs up – or down – to the sector’s social media posts.

As a keen star spotter, I understand how perturbing Guidewire’s Laura Drabik encounter with Jason Sudeikis at the technology provider’s Nashville conference must have been.

“I actually bustled past him, missing the photo op,” she shared on LinkedIn. “He called me back to ensure the moment was captured… laughing jovially so I wasn’t embarrassed.”

When one encounters Ted Lasso, you don’t expect him to have to lasso you for a photograph. Typically, it should be the other way round. Thumbs down for Laura for failing to spot every star in her stratosphere.

Five stars.

“Where’s my ball gone? I can’t see the ball.”

Kevin Spencer, CEO of Markerstudy Group, smashing it at indoor golf club Pitch in Bishopsgate, just before Christmas.
