Fitch puts RSA ratings on negative watch

Fitch has placed RSA’s 'A' insurer financial strength rating on watch negative following the announcement of further reserve strengthening in relation to its Irish business.

It appears you can teach an old dog new tricks. Not so long ago I used this space to berate insurers for their lack of action in commercial underwriting, with firms talking the talk but not walking the walk.

RSA shares down 11% after two hours of trading

Shares in RSA have tumbled more than 10% after the insurer warned that its profits would be £70m lower than market expectations after an audit uncovered issues with claims and finance in its Ireland operation.
