Penny Black’s Social Diary: Crawford’s curry and ABI’s meaty fare

Social Diary

Penny Black is back, sharing the tittle-tattle she overheard at insurance industry events, reviewing the quality of buffets at conferences and giving a thumbs up – or down – to the sector’s social media posts.

Shiny Disco Balls

I love a shiny disco ball, so Yasmin Van Der Veen, account executive at Marsh Commercial’s LinkedIn post about the Chartered Insurance Institute Young Members’ Committee Winter Ball 2024, certainly warrants a thumbs-up.

However, I was left wondering – where was my invite? Is it my age that prohibits my attendance? Did the invite get lost in the post? Like Insurance Post, I was first “issued” in 1840, making me more than 180 years old.

As an old broad, I am happy to have missed out on the 360 Photo Booth. I don’t believe spinning and socialising should mix.
