Global cat losses down 44% for 2013
Global insured losses from catastrophes have almost halved in 2013, dropping to £27bn according to a new study from Swiss Re.
Figures for 2012 showed a total of $81bn (£49bn) in man-made disasters and natural catastrophe losses.
Swiss Re said the figures reflected a quiet hurricane season in the US, though it also noted that
