With the final quarter of the year kicking off this week insurers were the most active recruiters with a raft of hires and promotions. XL Insurance added three new members of staff to its burgeoning team in Europe, while a number of other players seized key employees from rival firms. The broking sector remained relatively quiet for the second week running, with Giles the main exception, recruiting nine new staff across six of its offices. There were also notable appointments in the loss adjusting dispute resolution and risk management spheres.

There have been significant moves in the insurer world with QBE promoting Elliot Miller to general manager, national. Miller took up the role at the start of the month and was previously general manger for Ireland, Scotland and the North of England. Axis Global Accident & Health has named Jamie Cañellas as senior vice president and business development manager for its international operations.
