Councils report 17% drop in liability claims

A survey by Cunningham Lindsey UK of 17 local authority subscribers to its Fraudline has found the number of liability claims received during 2007/2008 fell by 17% compared to the previous year.

Dayton Griffiths, insurance and risk manager for Caerphilly County Council, said: “Over the last 12 months, we have seen a reduction of almost 60% in fraudulent or exaggerated personal injury claims
