Ecclesiastical comes out top in charity table
Ecclesiastical Insurance has been named the seventh biggest giver to charity in the UK, behind the likes of Lloyds TSB and Marks and Spencer and ahead of Shell and Fidelity Investment Management. The listing, produced independently by the Directory of Social Change, ranks companies based on total pre-tax donations to charity. Ecclesiastical's giving figure includes its 'regular' grant to its charitable owner as well as additional grants given during the year.
Seven of the top 10 corporate givers are financial services companies with Ecclesiastical - the 28th-biggest UK insurer - the only dedicated insurer in the top ten.
