As the credit crisis intensifies, US insurers are witnessing an increase in suspicious property fires as cash-strapped owners make desperate attempts to avoid repayments. Peter Unsworth turns his attention to the UK market and explains how best to tackle the difficulty inherent in proving arson

Fears have been raised that the credit crunch in the UK will cause a spike in fraudulent arson similar to that already being experienced in the US.
