QBE Europe H1 profits increase to $222m

QBE Europe reported a pre-tax insurance profit of $222m (H1 2009: $213M). Its gross written premium for the first half of 2010 was up 8% to US$2.412bn (2009 US$2.228bn).

In pounds sterling, its GWP was up 6% to £1.574bn, QBE added.

The group said growth benefited from "many new business initiatives", particularly in its casualty portfolios, and from favourable cross

Lloyd’s profits fall to £3.5bn

Lloyd’s profit before tax fell from £4.2bn in the first half of 2025 to £3.5bn in the first six months of 2026, as lower investment returns offset a "strong" underwriting performance.
