RSA scooped a trio of awards last night at the British Insurance Awards, winning in the claims initiative, major loss and young achiever categories.

XL Catlin also won multiple awards, winning in the commercial lines insurer of the year award and achievement award, as well as Aviva, which won customer care and general insurer of the year.

The winners were:


Customer care award: Aviva

Business sustainability/corporate social responsibility initiative of the year: QBE Europe

Brand management award: Allianz UK


Investing in the profession award: Lloyd’s Market Association

The diversity award: Aon UK

Making it work:

Transformational deal of the year: Towergate Insurance – HPS led refinancing

Outsourced partner of the year: Plantec Assist


Claims initiative of the year – outsourced partner: SBS Insurance Services

Claims initiative of the year – insurer: RSA Group

The major loss award: RSA Group, Harris Balcombe, RGL and Vericlaim, McVitite’s Caldewgate factory

The risk management award: The East of England Co-op

The Future:

Digital insurance innovation of the year: Axa Insurance and Cunningham Lindsey

Technology award: WPA Health insurance

Insurance start-up award: Cuvva


Commercial lines broker of the year – SME / mid-corporate: Centor Insurance & Risk Management

Personal lines broker of the year: Fresh Insurance Group

Lloyd’s and London Market broking team of the year: Aon Benfield Re-solutions

Insurance broker of the year: County Insurance


Commercial lines insurer of the year: XL Catlin

Personal lines insurer of the year: Covea Insurance

General Insurer of the year: Aviva


Young achiever of the year: Hannah Kate Smith from RSA Group

Insurance personality of the year: Benedict Burke, chief client officer, Crawford and Company

Achievement award: Stephen Catlin, XL Catlin
