Renewing your motor insurance policy as a consumer feels like an instalment of Numberwang, with numbers seemingly plucked out of thin air.

In my experience not only does your premium change three or four times, depending on who you speak to in the call centre, but sometimes you end up with seemingly arbitrary charges.
