Career file - Jon Walker: Axa hires Bluefin personal lines MD Walker

ladders

Bluefin personal lines managing director Jon Walker has left the broker after seven months to succeed Matthew Reed as Axa Intermediary managing director.

Reed is moving to a role within Axa group property and casualty, where he will investigate global SME opportunities.

Walker, a former Towergate retail broking chief executive, held the role of business development and delivery director at Capita before joining Bluefin in November 2013.
He said: “Axa has really started to dominate the SME market in the UK but there are still many opportunities to increase the footprint and broaden the offering to brokers.

Coming from a broker background, I’d like to think I have an understanding of how they work, what they want from an insurer and, perhaps more importantly, what they don’t want from an insurer – and I am very much looking forward to getting started.”

Amanda Blanc, Axa Commercial Lines and Personal Intermediary CEO, said: “This is a great opportunity for Matthew to take the SME expertise we have developed here in the UK out to the wider group, and it is a real endorsement of the progress we have made since 2011.

“I have worked closely with Jon in the past [at Towergate] and I am confident he will bring his own perspective and approach to the role.”
