History of Insurance Post

Having reported on the insurance industry since 1840, we have become the market’s most trusted source of high-quality intelligence. We originally specialised in reporting on the UK insurance market, but today have editorial teams based both in London and Hong Kong. This allows us to cover the general insurance markets with both a global and local aspect.

1840

Where it all began…. Post magazine is launched

1930

A more modern image - a new design is introduced

1960

The Insurance Directory expands - several textbooks are published and a new monthly, Reinsurance, is launched to cover this specialist market.,

1980

First significant changes in the magazine’s style - division between news, features and comment is adopted.

1986

A complete re-design of the magazine - a new look is launched and circulation rises steadily as a result.

1990

Post Magazine 150th anniversary - celebrations are used as a launched-pad for a range of developments, a 240 page anniversary edition and the first awards are launched.

Paving the way for its flourishing conference programme - the first Post magazine conference is held.

1993

Another major change - post magazine is transformed into a tabloid news format.

2006

From Post Magazine to Post - post online, web-based service, and post-events, range of conferences, seminars, round-tables and other events, are launched.

2012

Our first app - post weekly app is launched

Yet more content - Insurancehound.co.uk is launched offering an extensive insurance whitepaper library and lead generation service.

Knowledge Centre launched - our first CPD-accredited learning tool

Risk Management Hub - powerful insight for risk managers

2020

Best Insurance Employer ranking - the first edition of the biggest employee-driven survey of the market’s best employers

Unstructured Reading tool - our second learning tool is launched. All articles include an indicative reading time which users can record, and track to contribute to their CII CPD/IDD requirements

2021

Insurance Post TV - we premiered the first episode in our ‘magazine-style’ television show
