Oil spill costs Catlin $40m

Catlin has estimated its exposure to the Deepwater Horizon oil disaster is approximately $40m (£27m) net of reinsurance and reinstatements.

Catlin reported gross premiums written increased 9% to $1.3bn in the first quarter compared to a year earlier.

Using constant exchange rates, gross premiums written rose by 5%. GWP at its London hub
