Reinsurers underwriting gains offset by unrealised losses

A newly-published report shows reinsurers’ underwriting gains in H1 2013 were offset by unrealised investment losses.

The report, published by Fitch Ratings, said that global reinsurers improved their underwriting combined ratio to 85.8% in the first half of the year (H1 2012: 87.7%) as catastrophe-related losses
