15 December: Pushing their luck

15-dec

With the buoyant personal injury claims market, one insurer was not surprised when, following an accident caused by one of its policyholders, several claims registrations began to roll in from passengers on a bus at the scene of the accident.

What did surprise them was that, on closer inspection, the ‘victims' weren't actually part of the accident.

The CCTV footage from the bus the ‘injured parties' were travelling on showed Mrs Policyholder driving along the road and crashing, but not into the bus the whiplash victims were travelling on. Instead, she  careered into parked traffic on the opposite side of the road.

The bus was coming along in the opposite direction, and merely drove past the scene of the accident.

Needless to say, for the four passengers and the driver, this was definitely a case of no win.
