Insurers lose first round of EU gender battle
MEPs in the European Parliament, have, as expected, rejected an ammendment to the Gender Equality Directive which would have allowed gender to continue to be used as a factor in underwriting decisions. Ministers from all member states will discuss the directive on 1 June at the European Council.
In a statement Norwich Union said it was disappointed by the vote in the European Parliament. It added that Norwich Union was opposed to unfair discrimination of any kind and supported the overall aimOnly users who have a paid subscription or are part of a corporate subscription are able to print or copy content.
