AIG close to settling Spitzer affair, claims WSJ
American International Group (AIG) may pay up to $1.5bn to settle civil investigations by state and federal authorities into an accounting scandal, according to The Wall Street Journal, which has cited unnamed sources close to the affair.
New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer and the New York State Insurance Department May filed a civil suit in May 2005 against the company and its former chief executive, Maurice "Hank" Greenberg
