RSA reports group profit as book continues to shrink

Royal & Sun Alliance today revealed that its combined operating ratio in UK personal and commercial lines had both improved to 97.6% (2003: 101.3%) and 93% (95.3%) respectively for the nine months to 31 September 2004.

Overall RSA reported a drop in net premiums written from £5125m to £3783m, although the insurance group added it had seen a £276m operating loss in 2003 improve to £258m profit.

In the UK, RSA added
