HBoS and Lloyds TSB increase insurance profits

Halifax Bank of Scotland's general insurance profits increased to £365m compared to £232m the previous year, although the business as a whole made a £10.8bn loss.

In its results to 31 December, Lloyds TSB, which merged with HBoS in January to form Lloyd's Banking Group, has reported a general insurance profit of £234m, up 113% from £110m in 2007. As a whole
