American Re upgraded by Moody’s

Moody's Investors Service has upgraded the insurance financial strength rating of American Re-Insurance Company (ARIC) to Aa3 from A2, and upgraded the senior debt rating of American Re Corporation (ARC) to A2 from A3. The rating action concludes a review for possible upgrade that was initiated on July. The rating outlook is stable.

The rating review was prompted by the announcement of a formidable recapitalization plan at ARIC, following a $1.6bn reserve strengthening. The recapitalization was funded by the group's ultimate
